![]() ![]() You can sense that it does try to have some depth and intrigue, but it fails to impress due to what feels like a complete lack of inspiration or originality. Worse, the story so far has a super generic premise and predictable twists. The characters aren't bad per sé, but all of them tend to be on the bland and unoriginal side. The story and writing are the worst part of the game in my opinion. The voice acting is inconsistent and not great overall, but I guess there's only so much you can do with it on an indie budget. ![]() Music and sound design are okay, nothing very memorable but nothing stands out as actually bad either. The combat, as said, has good spritework though. It's not a gamebreaker but it doesn't look great. The spritework in combat is quite good, but everything else looks like generic RPGMaker assets which contrary to my earlier comment does detract from the overall quality and makes the game feel a bit cheap. ![]() ![]() My only real gameplay-related issue is that the UI/UX design isn't great, but luckily it doesn't get too annoying. It has nothing too original, but it's got solid map design, a decent amount of unit/squad customization, and a pretty good sense of balance. It's got some recognizable influences from Fire Emblem, Ogre Battle and Soul Nomad, and meshes together those elements in a way that works well. Let's start with the most important bit: The gameplay is good. I've been playing this for a few hours now.
